Why It’s Never Too Early for Christmas (*In Greeting Card-land)

Outside it’s grey rain and leftover pumpkins. Inside, the kettle’s on and someone’s counting stamps. That’s how we know: it’s time.

Every November, the same routine begins. Someone spots mince pies in the supermarket and says, “Already?” Someone else rolls their eyes. And then, quietly, they buy them anyway.

We like to think we’re above early Christmas talk. That we’ll “get round to it later.” But later has a habit of sneaking up. One minute it’s Bonfire Night; the next, you’re panic-writing cards with a biro that’s given up.

That’s why, in Greeting Card-land, Christmas starts early. Not because we’re obsessed with tinsel. But because connection takes time. This is the calm bit, the part before the rush, when writing cards still feels like care, not admin.

The early birds (and the koalas)

First to arrive are our Koala-ty Christmas cards. Small, round-eared optimists in Santa hats. They’re cheerful, a bit daft, and designed to make you smile.

But they also do something quietly important. Every card you buy helps fund local mental-health work across Scotland. That means your warm fuzzies do double duty, one for the friend who’ll open it, and one for the person helped by what it funds.

We’ve made it easy, too: 4-for-3 on all Christmas cards. No codes, no catch. Just a small nudge to start early and feel smug about it later.

For the wool-hearted among us

Next up: Merry Knitmas. A mini-range of knitted cows, foxes, sheep and robins in their festive best. They’re soft, punny and full of character — proof that cosy can still be clever.

It’s been Christmas at our place since June (we’ve made peace with it). Someone’s got to make sure you’ve got cards before the first frost.

What we’re really selling

We don’t think of these as “products.” They’re more like carriers. They travel further than we can, across kitchens, counties and countries and they arrive as proof that someone thought of you.

That’s the real economy of Christmas: one human moment at a time.

And when those moments help fund local mental-health work, the circle closes neatly. The care that goes into sending becomes care that goes somewhere real.

So maybe we’ve got it right

Starting early isn’t commercial. It’s considerate.
It’s giving yourself time to do something properly.
It’s turning “I meant to” into “I did.”

So yes, it’s Christmas already.
And that’s a good thing.

Because connection - real connection - takes time.
