Mental Health First Aid: Funded by Eyewear, Delivered with Heart

Some projects quietly remind you what community can do. Over five weeks in Forres, a group of local people came together for Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid course, delivered by Green Ribbons, and funded entirely through an unlikely source: an eyewear company.

This wasn’t a coincidence. It was a collaboration built on shared purpose.

👓 Opticaid Eyewear partnered with us through a licensing agreement, using revenue from their range to fund places for people to learn genuinely lifesaving skills.

🏍️ Mr Moto in Forres offered their space: Warm, welcoming, and just unconventional enough to make serious conversations feel comfortable.

💚 The James Support Group helped connect us with participants who’d benefit most, as they always do.

🎨 This is Iris Limited, our licensing agent, made the whole partnership possible in the first place.

And the participants themselves? They were the heart of it.

“This should be done by everyone.”
“I feel very confident now.”
“A safe space to talk and learn.”

From exploring suicide awareness to sharing stories, it was honest, powerful and genuinely life-changing. Every single person said they’d recommend the course to a colleague, a small but meaningful sign that change is possible.

There’s still plenty of work to do, more funding, more visibility, more people trained. But thanks to this thoughtful mix of partners, we’ve taken another step in the right direction.
